Found via The Ampersand. These ampersand food group typographic illustrations by Dan Beckemeyer are mouthwatering.
Typography
Not My Type
Found via SwissMiss. I have fallen in love with these Not My Type tees and sweatshirts. I want them all! Especially that “Comic sans is not my type” sweatshirt.
Typostruction
Typostruction is a blog curated by one of my favorite artists, Chris Piascik. The blog features interesting works of illustrated typography, like “A-ha!” by von_brandis.
Colosseo
Found via Monoscope. Cameron Moll‘s Colosseo, a typographic letterpress poster of the Colosseum, is incredibly detailed, beautiful, and impressive. Also rather impressive are the glasses that Bryce Knudson wears in this video about Moll’s Colosseo.
Adopt a Word
Found via Quoteskine. I CAN, a charity that helps children with communication difficulties, has a wonderful campaign called “Adopt a Word.” For £20, you can “adopt” your favorite word for a year and support I CAN as it gives more children access to life-changing language resources. It’s a great idea and a great cause!
Haäfe & Haph
Found via The Ampersand. Haäfe & Haph‘s ampersands are exquisite, and their site design is also rather fetching.
Digital Clocks
I have recently become rather mesmerized by digital clocks, and the innovate ways people have found to present them. I’ve listed a few of my favorites below. If you’re interested in clock screensavers, I also recommend taking a look at this list of great clock screensavers for Macs. (Thanks, Paul!)
Alphabet Arm Zipper-Pulls
While browsing Boston-based design studio Alphabet Arm Design‘s great portfolio of work, I followed a link to their shop and found these zipper-pulls. The last zipper-pull I saw was probably shaped like a cute animal or a children’s cartoon character, so I was pleasantly surprised to find Alphabet Arm had made promotional zipper pulls that one wouldn’t be ashamed to put on one’s bag after the age of twelve. I love the vibrant colors! Also check out Aphabet Arm’s eye-catching Alphabetical typography shirts.
Very Small Array
Very Small Array‘s posts are always so aesthetically captivating, like this map showing the locations mentioned in Craigslist missed connections.
Ampersandwich Tee
Found via what’s with today today. SimpleBits, a design studio in Massachusetts, just started selling Ampersandwich tees, shirts that combine three of my favorite things: typography, t-shirts, and sandwiches.
Corriette Schoenaerts
I love all of Corriette Schoenaerts‘ photography projects, especially maps, library, and quotes. Here is one of the photos from quotes, which was part of Utrecht School of the Arts’ marketing campaign:
Quoteskine
Found via PSFK. One of my new favorite things is Quoteskine, a blog by graphic designer Lee Crutchley. Crutchley draws out song lyrics, quotations, and other things in his Moleskine notebook and posts the pages on Quoteskine. How refreshing it is to see handwritten typography! (If you like Quoteskine, you should also check out the work of Chris Piascik.)
We Make Words
We Make Words is a very charming project.
The Ampersand
The Ampersand is a blog by Stephen Gose, who thinks the ampersand “is often the most attractive character of them all.” The blog is a wonderful ode to the ampersand and features an eclectic mix of posts about ampersands found both in art and in everyday life.
Milk Packaging
Found via Ffffound. Visual Advice comes up with a lot of eye-catching designs, like this concept for a milk carton. I love that it’s Helvetica.
Lorem Ipsum
As someone who has spent a lot of time working on layouts for publications and websites, I’m always using filler text. A few years ago, I discovered the Lorem Ipscream site and have been using it ever since. It comes in the following quirky, delicious, delightful flavors:
- Vanilla
- German Chocolate
- Mint Chocolate Czech
- Sailing Three Tuesdays
- Soylent Cream
- Neapolitician
- Texas Toast
- Chunky Bacon
If you’re curious about the original “Lorem Ipsum” text, you can read all about it here.
