Yarn Graffiti

Seeing the new Yarn Bombing book in a bookstore earlier today reminded me that I have been meaning to write a post about yarn graffiti, a remarkable and fairly new street art trend.  “Guerrilla knitting or ‘yarnstorming’ … is the art of covering part of the world in a knitted or crocheted fabric,” explain the folks behind Knit the City, a project that aims to knit the streets of London.  I love that these guerrilla knitters have turned graffiti into something charming and homey.  Definitely check out Yarn Bombing, Knit the City (especially the phonebooth cosy), and Knitta Please for a more comprehensive look at their work.
